I'd prefer a massage, but since I'm out of luck on that one, does anyone know of anything that will help with this?

well a massage by a professional is best.. along with a full back massage and adjustment. (this costs money of course but look around check out prices) pampering yourself at a spa works wonders also.

yoga really works too, it is amazing that alot of neck pain comes from another problem in the body not the neck.

a hot bath... having one of those mini spas or bubblers in the tub will generate relaxation and thus relieving pain.

stretching.. pilates..

call around town for any places that offer yoga on a budget and or pilates.. having an expert and investing some time and money into one will help with long term issues.

diet, checking into that too can help.. some foods can cause muscle stress and then of course pain can result.. increase water intake... ensure you don't have any food allergies that can cause a redundancy in pain in the muslces...

and of course sitting upright, checking all that stuff when it comes to work, surfing the net, sitting down for periods of time... working at your desk, computer... how you position yourself.. which side has the most pain.. is it the side where you use the mouse? so on.

there's many things to consider and try out... starting now in the investigation of why you're having pain will be a great relief. not just easing the pain every time you have it.

:D

i hope this helps.

Reduce your stress, take your preferred pain killer. It may seem strange but try an ice pack wrapped in a towel for twenty minutes. This is what the doctors told me to do when they diagnosed me with whiplash after a car accident.

Those pillows with seeds in them that you can put in the microwave.
It's very nice and comforting.
I use it a lot, especially when I'm going to sleep.
The heat helps to sooth the painful and stressed out muscles.
