He emigrated to the United States around 1910. If I cannot get citizenship direct from him, could my father or grandfather apply and could I secure Polish citizenship through them? My grandfather was born here, in the US.

You can´t acquire citizenship via great-grandparents, only parents and grandparents in some countries. Your best bet would be to contact your nearest Polish Consulate and ask them. I´m pretty sure your grandfather would have to apply for citizenship by proving that his father was Polish, then your dad would have to apply by proving your grandfather´s citizenship, and then you would follow.

Don´t listen to people who say "why would you want to do that?" I think it´s a great idea, you´ll become an EU citizen and be eligible to work in most of Europe!
