I have been taking Prozac for about 8 months and it has helped me, however I am having a hard time mataining my weight and struggle loosing and gaining weight, the plus I have noticed is that I am able to mantain longer period of erection during sex.
I'd like to stop taking this medication but feel nervous about getting depressed as soon as I stop.
Anybody has had any experiences similars and has gotten out of the medication succesfully?

Prozac is one of those medications which does have side effects both during the period you are taking them and when you are stopping the dosage. It is a good idea to be monitored by your doctor during this period. "Cold Turkey" is dangerous. You need to do exactly as the doctor tells you and don't vary the treatment. You should be gradually reduced in dosage for a period until you are able to cope without it. During this time, you should be eating well and make sure you don't drink alcohol. Also, it is a good idea to avoid situations which can potentially stress you.
Yes, you would have found a benefit in sex drive because the Prozac probably reduced anxiety. Hopefully, that drive will not change. These drugs are short term and are to assist you in returning to normalcy. But, again, I have to emphasise, diet is important and abstinence from alcohol is essential as alcohol is a depressant.
I hope you recover soon. You may be shaky at first when you are reduced from the dosage. Try not to worry. It's normal. If you feel yourself becoming agitated, visit your doctor or clinic and report it. They'll know what to do. Best of luck.

You cannot stop taking Prozac by yourself--you need to be weened and monitored by your doctor. I never had problems with my weight on Prozac but I did quit cold turkey and was MISERABLE.
