The reason is two fold. One is that it is a way of proving that you are age legal. Most minors do not have a credit card and the main reason is that the company is hoping you forget about the end of the FREE trial period so they can start charging you. Make sure that there isn't an automatic yearly sign up contract. If you are a day, Even hours late the contract kick in. It's standard practice but it always works for the business end

Because after the 7 days is over, they start charging your credit card. It is insurance for Music Unlimited that you will pay for their service if you don't cancel before the free trial is over. A lot of people forget to call and cancel, so they get a lot of money by requesting that information up front.

because after the 7 days, they start charging your credit card. it's kind of a scam, they assume that people will forget to cancel their membership before the 7 days, and their assumption is 95% right. if you go just one day over, your credit card gets charged. beware!

There's probably some fine print somewhere. If you don't cancel within 7 days, they will start charging your card for whatever the fee is.
