I would say an older mare paint. My first horse was a mare paint and she was calm and easy to learn on.

Personally, I think it depends on how well the horse is trained and how dependable the horse is. I have known a very nice Appy that was great with kids, but then there were some great mixes, Quarter horses, Arabs, and so on.

Quarter horses and Paints are great horses...I would recommend getting an older gelding.

I would say an older Tennessee Walking Horse because they have very smooth gaits and are very good family horses. But any older horse but I would stay away from young Quarter Horses because they can be stubborn.

Quarter Horse, my sister was the former director of the AJQHA and developed several jr programs. I grew up around all types and would have to say that the QH is the more docile. Though all breeds have their bad apples, so to speak.

just a dead broke.. child safe..sound poof...age around 10-15 if its there first time riding.... i would get a quarter horse that is if they ride western.. get one that has worked w/ kids.. and know wats its doin.. good luck need 2 kno anything else bout horse ask .. thnx bye

quarter horses or appy's are great i raise both i have a 1 year old nephew and he absolutly loves them they really care if the rider is hurt or not and both live long.

A pony, A POA pony of america, look for one that is calm, fellabella's can't be ridden, their to small, I work with horses every day, At my barn we have a POA and she is great!!!!go to www.dreamhorse.com you can find all sorts of horses their for sale! Good luck! =D
