My dog has just had puppies 3 weeks ago she went into labour nearly a week earlier than she should of. She started in the early hours of the morning and never delivered her first pup until 5.50pm. My advice would be keep a close eye on her and always stay in contact with your vet. If you think there is a problem do not hesitate to call him. Even though my puppies were all born early they are all doing well so dont worry that she has not gone full term she possibly could be having a large litter thats why my vet said my dog delivered early. She had seven and thats a big first litter for a westie. GOOD LUCK hope mum and babies will be ok let us know when and how many she has x Iforgot to mention that when my dog ha dher pups we made sure we had a heat lamp to keep the pups warm but also a hot water bottle for underneath them incase you get a couple of small ones good luck once again x

Dogs usually give birth safely between the 58th and 64th day. If your dog is showing signs of labor on the "57th day" you may have simply miscalculated the exact date she was bred.
If you're sure about the date she was initially bred, you may have a problem. Usually if pups are born before 56 days they are immature and underdevloped. They can come out stillborn or die shortly after birth. You dog will go through the birthing process as though they are fully developed puppies, but watch for problems during the whelping, and keep an eye on any survivors. We'd suggest keeping a phone nearby with your vet's phone number readily available in case you need it.
The tempearture drop, panting, and nest building usually means the pups are 12 to 24 hours away.
We hope all goes well with your dog. If you have any other questions, you can email us at fetch11hs@peoplepc.com and we'll try to assist you.

Just like people are not always right on time with the anticipated day of birth, dogs can be late or early. She should be just fine. I have rescued and fostered for two pregnant Shepherd mix females and both times it went great. The mom will do most of the work.
You should have a clean area for her to lay in when the time finally comes. If she is aggressive, give her room. If not, then just comfort her and be ready for the arrivals. I had one pup that needed help out of the sac because the last three came out so fast she did not have time to tend to all. I just unwrapped him and placed him back with mom to feed.
Instinct will guide both the mom and the pups. Best of luck to you and your new puppies.

Phone, the vet and ask for advice !
If you are still worried ,
ask the vet to come out and visit your dog , at home
this may be premature .labour
OR
hopefully ---a miscalculation of dates
watch her carefully , but do not interfere.
Good luck
"Pregnancy, also called the gestation period, ranges from 60 to 67 days,
averaging 63 days.
Most dogs deliver (whelp) between days 63 and 65.
The only way to accurately determine the stage of pregnancy is to count days from the time of breeding.
If at all possible, the breeding date(s) should be recorded."

with human pregnancy, there is a window of normal gestation, which is 38 to 42 weeks, most babies being born around 40. if you were told 59 days for dogs, and it is the 57th day, this sounds perfectly normal. and the panting and discomfort sound like labor. but you could always call the vet. that's what they are for.

as if i remember she is only a year old just keep a close eye on her at all times get a big box or something for her to have pups in get some old towels so that when she has had all her pups you can put in clean warm bedding for her to take care of her young you should just watch her and let the ***** do ever thing she should be fine just be with her in case thee is a problem pop down to your Libray in the morning or get some one to go for you and if you have never breed before ask them at the Libra for a book that is called book on the *itch it is such a good book and will tell you everything you need to know rite from beging to end up until the pups leave to go to the new owners just take care to that mother doesent lie on her pups you may find that you will have to feed them as she is young and may not bother with them but don't worry just see how she goes may be fine don't worry to much it will be fine if your dogs starts scratching in corners she ain't going to be long keep us informed how it all goes and don't be afraid to ask if you are worried about anything

Don't worry. Do everything that you were preparing for. She will be fine. It is not uncommon for dogs to go into labor anywhere between 55 and 62 days. Good luck! I hope the pups and mom are all healthy.

Any breed of dog can deliver pups at 56 to 63 days, evidently your pet is in labor, watch her closely and make sure she expelles each pup and removes the bag of water pup is in away from the head first,if she doesn't you will have to remove it,as pup will drown within seconds.Just leave her alone and don't interfere if she is doing ok.A pup should be born within 45 minutes to 1 hr. after her contractions start. If not and she appears to be bearing down without a pup coming out, call your vet,as pup could be lodged in birth canal.Good luck on your new3 litter.
