Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth;

God was before all things and created all that is. He is the self-existing being, He needs nothing or anyone. He is complete. Think about it, if you were going to create a god in your mind, would you create one like the God of the Bible? One who condemns sin, demands worship, will not tolerate evil, and will allow those who do not believe to suffer for eternity? I don't think so. We would be more inclined to create a god who was cool with everything, not condemn anyone, let us do what we want and allow us into Heaven no matter what we do or believe.

Nope. Like all other ideas, he evolved from simpler concepts. The origin of god was pre-sentient humans looking around and being taken with awe and wonder at the splendor of the universe.
