I am looking for a Chinese restaurant in either NYC or surrounding areas, with good food, not too expensive, and a private room for a friend's party. Any suggestions? We will prob be a group of 20-30 people.

Pick any restaurant in Chinatown, Mott street, Bayard Street, Canal St., East Broadway. All are great.
Or go to Brooklyn's Chinatown. 8th Avenue betwen 65th Street and 55th Street. N train to 8th Avenue. Try 6201 8th Avenue, best Dim Sum anywhere. Brooklyn's Chinatown is bigger than Manhattan's nowadays. This is where the Chinese eat.

If you want unreal Chinese food. Try Shun Lee Palace. It is in Manhattan. The food is the best you will ever have. The ambiance is nice , you will be able to have a relaxed time. It is a bit expensive. Be careful you do not go to the Shun Lee Cafe , although it is great and has the same ownership, the Palace is where you want to go.

Phillipe, which is owned and run by the famous chef behind Mr. Chow's, is absolutely the best Chinese restaurant in the city, but can be a bit pricey. Try researching on restaurant.com, which lists lots of info by category, and gives a good idea of the prices for each place.

Check out the restaurant directory for Mott Street in Manhattan. That's Chinatown. They give huge portions and are reasonably priced. In Brookly, there's a good, huge restaurant on Avenue X and 18th Street, Sheepshead Bay.

My favorite is called Lili's Noodle House in Battery Park, NYC.
Very inexpensive, and absolutely delicious.
