i was in the 1st cav. div. 8th engr bn.(combat) in vietnam i need to know if i put on the cross sabers or the cross rifels on my on my cav hat.

The Cavalry insignia is the crossed sabers. The Infantry insignia is the crossed rifles. If the Division was the 1st Cav then the black stetson is adorned with the sabers.
Also, the rest of you guys don't need to be too hard on him. He is an Engineer you know.

.I'd be guessing; however, being a member of the 1st Cav. as an Engineer and not an infantry solider. I would say crossed sabers!
I think crossed sabers have always been the symbol of Cavalry.
