The Statue of Liberty is on Liberty Island, which is in the Hudson River right in-between New York and New Jersey.

Although it is "officially" in NY, It is closer to land in New Jersey,
New Jersey tax payers pay for all the Electricity, water, sewer, trash removal ect... when you go you pay NY Sales Tax, and the workers pay NY taxes, if they live in NJ, they pay income tax for BOTH states.
