Get on the train and go to Evans Cycles in The Cut or the bigger branch round the corner in Waterloo Road. It will be done quickly, well and at a competive price. Ring first to make an appointment and then while you have a day out in town they'll fix up your machine.

The only place I know that's as competent is Elmy's in Ipswich - probably harder to get to.

Ignore all those sods who say do it yourself - I know how bloody difficult it is to get bike gears just right - and if you can afford it, what's wrong with giving the bike a birthday once in a while?

Have a good day in town!

Buy a book on bike maintenance and do it yourself. It is relatibely easy to do most bike repair, and it will save you tons of money in the long haul. Plus you get to learn a new skill. I stopped going to bike shops years ago for service anyway- it's usually just some highschool kid working on my bike anyway, and I trust me more.
