Hi Morg...Yes, you are correct...It is a personal thing...You are a Christian if you believe in and have accepted Christ..It has nothing to do with what Crristian church you belong to..Anyone that judges others, will be judged.." Judge not, lest you be judged"..
Also, " Man looks on the outward appearance, but, God looks at the heart"..I know some wonderful Catholic Christians, who live the life better than some so called, Evangelical Christians...
In essance....God knows who his children are, regardless of which church they belong to..
Don't worry about it...God will sort it out...Keep the faith.. :)

It is a kind of ignorance. They do not understand that their church came from the catholic church. Actually the Real Catholics are generally more advanced in spiritual understanding than most Christians because they understand you have to stop sinning. Also they chant the Rosary which cleanses one of sins. Where protestants (only around a few hundred years) think all you have to do is believe and all is forgiven. This is a type of fanatical understanding. But there are so many thing tha Catholic do not understand as well. That is why I have chosen the Christian Essene's who have the whole picture. Go to www.essene.org Go to www.stephen-knapp.com for universal truths The world relief network

Well you see, it runs like this ... When your tradition came into existence through a rebellion, you bear the responsibility of demonstrating that what you rebelled against was EVIL. Because if what you rebelled against was the Church of God, then obviously your rebellion itself was EVIL. And when it turns out that your new tradition fragments into thousands of conflicting denominations, in direct violation of the stated will of God that all His followers be ONE, you are even harder pressed to legitimize your own existence. Now you have to demonstrate that what you rebelled against was SO EVIL that leaving it was justified, even if it meant violating God's will. If Protestants admitted the truth about the Catholic Church, they would be condemning their own tradition. So instead they try every possible means of demonizing the Church Jesus Christ founded for them. You have to understand their position. To take an honest look at history is to recognize the Holy Catholic Church for what it truly is, and has been for 2,000 years - the only Church founded or authorized by Jesus Christ; and having done that, any honest person is faced with a choice they don't want to think about ... either join the true Church, or remain in manmade semi-Christian religion.

Amazing! After reading some of the hysterical (funny) distortions of the Roman Catholic Faith!
LOL!
Many here hate what they perceive of the Roman Catholic Faith, not the True Roman Catholic Faith.
LOL, that the Church that composed the letters of the ancient biblical writers of Jesus Christ, into the very one volume Bible, itself could be called non-biblical! LOL!
It is very obvious from my experience that Anti-Catholic Bigotry is the last prejudice that is acceptable and encouraged to this day!
Worship statues, Mary, The Pope (poor guy), rosary?!
How funny and quaint of our christian brethren, but so false and untrue!
Investigate your Fear.
We are your older brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. Praise be Jesus Christ now and forever.

Mat 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the ones who do the will of My Father in Heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many works of power?
Mat 7:23 And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; "depart from Me, those working lawlessness!" Psa. 6:8
Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
As you can see in the verses above, there will be many who will claim to be Christian, do many good works, who will not be known by the savior.
The main doctrinal difference is salvation and the means by which we are saved. The Bible teaches that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. The work is finished, nothing more needs to be done or added. The Catholic church continues to make bloodless sacrifices through the mass for the forgiveness of sins. They teach that justification is a process and that salvation is not assured. The Bible teaches otherwise. They teach that a person is a Christian through baptism, and that it is necessary to be resolved of their sins through confession in order to hope for Heaven. The Bible teaches that a Believer is born of above, nothing we can do to bring about that salvation. It is a gift of God. Complete forgiveness was done on the cross, our sins were wiped away, past, present and future. Baptism is a public proclamation of the faith that is already there. Catholics believe that there are certain "mortal" sins that may condemn someone to Hell. The Bible teaches otherwise.
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to flesh, but according to Spirit.
I am not denying that there are true Believers in the Catholic church, but most soon see the discrepancies between what the Catholics teach and what the Bible says and soon leave.
By the way, I know whence I speak since I was a Catholic for 18 years.

To be honest I'm not completely sure. All I know is Christians do not take to kindly with statues in the church and people confessing their sins to the priest instead of God.
Religion unfortunately has played a negative role in our life, it caused separation and confusion. I say we follow the word and the teachings of our Father GOD and live and love as ONE!

Some of my Catholic associates consider themselves distinct from Christians. I don't know why. And some of my Christian acquaintances say Catholics are not Christian, because their religion is full of tradition, including worship of images and adoption of many pagan rituals and bears little resemblance to original Christianity.

This something I had never heard till I was on Yahoo. Catholics not Christians!? I am in the USA. I have asked Catholic friends about this, and they say they have never heard it either, and that, of course, they are Christians.

well its somewhat simple.
the people who say theres a difference between catholic and christian are very stupid. simple as that.
catholic was the first christianity and the only untill the 1600s, and when protestants came along the thousands of different denominations had to agree on one thing "at least the catholics are wrong"
so this idea came from protestant diving from catholic, they had to slander catholic to justify the reformation
_EDIT-
caduka- paul, the only apostle who gave faith merit, the person that luther based his enitre religon on, said "if i have faith to move mountains, but no charity, i am nothing" james also says faith alone=garbage.
linnipoo- catholic WAS the original christinaity
goodflower- the bible says very clearly that jesus gave power to peter and the apostles to "bind to heaven and earth", so yes, priests are biblically powered to forgive sins 'en persona de criste' or in the name of christ.
brothermichael- i dont know what bible you were reading but my catholic bible says differently about salvation. here are some examples:
"their names were written in the book of life, based on their deeds"(REV)
"by your works you will be aquitted, by your works you will be condemned"(Jesus)
"faith without works is dead"(james)
"in the end there will be 2 groups to 1 i say you clothed me, fed, me, helped me. they will answer 'when did we do that' and i will say 'whenever you did this to others, you did this for me'. and to the other group ill say 'you did not feed me cloth me, help me.' they will say 'Lord, when did we do that' and i will say 'whenever you didnot do it for others, you did not do it to me."(jesus)
-EDIT-
light- i didnt see your silly answer cause it was minimized from the tumbs-downs, the catholic bible is the original bible. the protestant bible is the catholic bible after taking out some enitre books. pretty funny for the religon that claims to be 'sola scriptura'
