I don't believe in god but if I did I would say the sun comes closest to anything I would call a "god", without the sun all life of earth would cease, the sun makes you feel good, you need the sun to grow crops etc...

Atheists obviously believe the Sun is a god, because energy from the Sun is the magic ingredient that enabled life to miraculously, spontaneously generate itself from non-living matter in their primordial soup fable. As this is an impossibility according to natural laws, the miraculous, creative attributes of a god must reside in the Sun, or perhaps more generally in matter itself. Either way, matter (of which the Sun could be regarded as a symbol) is attributed with god-like qualities by those who believe in the primeval soup fable.

No. It is an inanimate object. It is very important to us just like water, plants etc but NOT God.
And He it is Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. They float, each in an orbit.
( سورة الأنبياء , Al-Anbiya, Chapter #21, Verse #33)
He it is Who appointed the sun a splendour and the moon a light, and measured for her stages, that ye might know the number of the years, and the reckoning. Allah created not (all) that save in truth. He detaileth the revelations for people who have knowledge.
( سورة يونس , Yunus, Chapter #10, Verse #5)
Al-Ikhlas | 4 verses | Absoluteness سورة الإخلاص
Sura #112 | Makkah
1Say: He is Allah, the One!
2Allah, the eternally Besought of all!
3He begetteth not nor was begotten.
4And there is none comparable unto Him.

No, but it's easy to see how people who are not sure what to believe might possible think that the sun is a god, as it is full of fire and light and gives life and warmth.

No, the sun is not a God. Consider where we would be without the creator of the sun. The sun wouldn't be here without God. and we wouldn't be here without God either. We were both created by God, so we're kind of in the same boat.

No, the one who made the sun, and put it in it's place is God. The sun is only a creation of the Creator, just like you and me.

the mayans did and they belived they had to kill one person aday to appease it or it would not come up the next day. That worked out well for them. See what kind of trouble beliefs can get you into.
but interestingly enough the sun is going to destroy the earth so that is quit interesting.

No the sun is a planet that was created by Allah to give light and heat to the world. There is only one God, his name is Allah.
