I have been with my b/f for a year now, and its my birthday tommorrow. He has saved NO money and gets mad at me when I get upset about this....calling me selfish because I happened to want to go out to eat for my bday dinner....and maybe see a movie. He said he made something for me instead....and I know what it is. A mix CD. That to me is an insult because a mix CD is soooo impersonal. I am upset....do I have a right to be or am I being a b*itch?

He has given me a mic CD for EVERY occasion. Valentines day, 6 month anniversary ECT. I Never listen to CD's...so it is a pointless gift.

If he just throws a bunch of meaningless songs on the CD then it's impersonal, but if he has put certain songs on the CD that reminds him of your first date or a time when first kissed would be nice. I would like that gift. But I would hope he would give more than just a CD. Maybe CD and flowers and candy. But he maybe surprising you. Who knows

usually a mix cd comes from the heart. i kind of understand you wanting to go out to a movie, because i usually end up just sitting around watching a movie at home or something with my boyfriend, and we dont ever do special stuff. be thankful for the cd, especially if it has personal songs as if he wanted to find out exactly what you like. it may be the best gift you ever recieve. but try not to get mad at him for not buying you something. he should WANT to make you happy, you shouldn't have to ask for it
