Shiba Inus?

2006-11-01 07:51:37 · answer #1 · answered by Shane 5 · 1 0

In my experience with Shiba Inus, they are aggressive dogs. They can have issues with aggression and territorial problems. If you do want a Shiba Inu, I would recommend good puppy training. The dogs I've seen have walked all over their owners, making the dog a living nightmare when we've had to clip toenails or give vaccinations at the clinic. I think there is good in every breed though, so as long as you are a firm owner, go for it!

depends what good means to you. this is what wikipedia says about their temperment

Shibas are generally independent and intelligent dogs. They have a reputation for aloofness with strangers, and obedience training is often difficult as they can prove to be rather stubborn. Some Shibas have difficulty socializing with other dogs, displaying aggressive tendencies towards dogs of both sexes.

it also says they are very clean dogs, easy to housebreak. they have double coats, and shed two or three times a year.

so it seems to me that they are good dogs if you don't have other dogs, or small children, and have the time to devote to them.
