My cat will bit us at night when we are sleeping and sometime he will just jump at us in the day and bit. He is fixed and declawed but he still wants to go outside. He also will not eat his hard food anymore it has to be soft. Can someone please help me?

Sometimes cats nibble on their mates because they want attention. I think he just wants you to pet him. When he jumps on you during the day, he wants to play. Because he is not getting to go outside he is looking for fun inside and you apparently look like the most fun thing around.

Do NOT let him go outside. With him being declawed, he will not be able to defend himself.

If you have changed his food recently, he will get picky. When pets get choices through their owners changing foods, they tend not to eat because they think something better might come along. If you are offering him canned food, he more than likely would much perfer that over hard food. It has more flavor! BTW, canned food is better for male cats than hard food because of their urinary tract.

I'm sure i just gave you way more info than you wanted.

Biting at night when you are sleeping is a bit stange. Tell him he is being rude and push him out the bedroom door when he does that. It's most likely a way of playing or getting your attention when he feels ignored. I made a big mistake with one of mine in my early cat days by responding to her game of choice "GOTCHA" this turned into "AMBUSH" and bloody ankles. Punishment and hysterics almost never work with cats. Refusing to play his game has better results. Find another game to play, and that means all the time. If you play "gotcha" during the day hows he to know the difference. A loud yelp helps to let them know they crossed the line.
As for the hard food, their teeth can really suffer on soft food only, but there are a lot of good crunchy treats he might like. Also make sure whatever food you serve is high quality with low ash. Get sample sized bags to try and you may find something he likes. The best food is still less expensive than one emergency vet visit for an urinary tract obstruction.
Some cats play rough for several years but mellow out later.

He may be having a tooth problem, I would make an appointment for him to see the vet and have that checked. Keep feeding him soft food till then just in case and give him extra love.

your cat definately wants you to love him. and take him to the vet to check his teeth. maybe he wants to let you know that his teeth hurt if he starts to bite you after 3 years.
okee good luck
