I have started working out the last few days not a whole lot 30-45 minutes of fast walking on the treadmill every other day. I am totally wiped out and exhausted! No sore muscles just dragging around like a snail. I heard that working out increased your energy. How long does this take? Why am I so tired?

It take a little time to build up to it.......Give it about three weeks. You should start feeling better.

Good luck

The "more energy" idea is a long term benefit not a short term one.
You probably started out to quickly. I suggest start with 10 min and increase it 5 min a week. Also, try a heart rate monitor to keep you in the "zone". It takes time stick with it and you will see results (energy, weight loss, muscles)

Yes when you first start out you will feel pretty tired. But once you start to make a habit of it it gets easier and easier and you will ultimately have so much more energy. You wil also have to change your diet as well to eat less sweets and fats. It took me maybe a good 2-3 weeks till I started feeling really good and with so much energy!! But once you get there you dont want to stop exercising and you will want to push yourself more and more. But results vary from person to person of course

Well its all in your diet... You could be eating to many sugars,

A test was done with a weight lifter. First he lifted his max weight. Then he was given a sugar cube to put under his tongue, to see the difference. The poor guy couldn't lift 40% of what he could before he had the sugar. Sweets, as in candy and chocolate kill you before you even work out, so eat some sugar free yogurt, and some cottage cheese before you run :D

Try working out less then increase your work out time a little more each day, if you are as exhausted after 2 o3 weeks, see your doctor.

you are using muscles that have not been worked like that for a long time and using energy reserves...it takes a couple of weeks and then you should not be getting so tired...give it the needed time
