Miriam (Exodus 15), Deborah (Judges 4), Huldah (2 Kings 22 & 34), Noadiah (Nehemiah 6), Anna (Luke 2), and several unnamed ones. Just go to an on-line Bible site and do a search on "Prophetess".
As for modern-day prophets, the problem is that prophets are not usually acknowledged until they get into scripture and nobody's writing scripture today that I know of. A prophet is anyone who truly speaks on God's behalf. The verification process is difficult. One can prophesy without being a career prophet. And if one is a prophet, one is usually classified as something else. Prophets tend to annoy authorities, particularly religious authorities, with makes it even harder for everyone to agree whether a prophet has spoken or just a dissident.
Was Pilate's wife a prophet? What about Joan of Arc? Catherine of Sienna? Dorothy Day? Amy Goodman? One person's prophet is another's antichrist.

I love the story of Deborah the prophetess in the Bible. You already have some great answers here about others. Anyone who has the spirit of Christ has the right to receive inspiration about the future, which is prophecy. There is, however, only one official prophet for the Church of Jesus Christ at any given time. From my point of view I believe that person is Gordon B. Hinckley. I am not against other people having prophecies, as well, but they would all have to lead back to the authority of Jesus Christ as the Son of God. We had several centuries in the world when there was no prophet due to the authority of God being removed from the earth. Men tried to substitute other titles for the prophet's calling, but it didn't work out. Have a happy day.

Yes, there were female prophetess in the bible.
See Acts 21:8-9
"Leaving the next day, we reached Caesarea and stayed at the house of Philip the evangelist, one of the Seven. He had four unmarried daughters who prophesied."
and see Luke 2:36-37
"There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying."

There were cerainly female judges, although I'm having a hard time thinking up female prophets.
if you define prophet as someone who speaks against injustice in the name of God, some of the modern ones that come to mind are Martin Luther King and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Yes, there is a modern day prophet. His name is Gordon B. Hinckley. As previously stated, those who follow my faith, commonly called mormon, believe this.
Prophets are people who communicate directly with God about things he wishes them to teach his children. This is different than someone who is inspired or who has felt the holy spirit. This is a calling from God and is unique. God has said he will not reveal anything to his children except it be through his prophets. This is also how it was done in ancient times. Since God does not change, it makes sense that his method of communicating with us would not.

yes, when Mary and Joseph took Jesus up to the temple to offer Him to God as the law demanded, they met Simon an old man and Anna a prophetess, as for the second question there are any number of these but a true prophet will have something worthwhile to tell us.
