I just have plain regular old cheap Aunt Jamima syrup to use for a reciepe but I thought adding a bit of maple flavor would give it a better flavor.

We add all sorts of stuff to ours to make it better. We stick it in a pot, sometimes we'll add butter and cinnamon, others maple flavoring, sometimes just straight out of the bottle. You'll have to experiment. Try adding some butter to the mixture too if you like butter, my family LOVES that.

I hope it is what you are looking for: Title: Homemade Pancake Syrup Categories: Yield: 4 Servings 3 c Water 3 c Granulated sugar 3 c Brown sugar 1 c Corn syrup 1 tb Lemon juice 1 tb Vanilla Combine first 4 ingredients in large saucepan. Stir on medium high until it boils. Add lemon juice, vanilla and maple flavoring. Stir. Fill hot sterilized bottles to within 1/4 inch of top. Seal. Makes 3-1/2 pints.

YES! It will improve the flavor. Also try adding it to Karo corn syrup. It will make plain corn syrup taste like maple syrup!!

not to make real maple syrup. i don't know exactly how real maple syrup is made, but here is the gist i have taken:

real maple syrup is made by "tapping" maple trees. around march, maple sugarers put tubes into trees to extract sap. the sap, i believe, is heated for some amount of time and cooked down into different grades of maple syrup.

You could or you could just simmer maple flavoring with sugar water until it gets the the right consistency and use that. We have done it lots of times.

instead of buying flavor it would still be artificial why not buy the real thing in the long run it would be about the same price

You could try it & see how it comes out. I've never done it like that. Just use a small amount of each so you won't waste much if you don't like it.
