Please take into account that suicides out-number deaths in the line of duty by more than 2 to 1. It is officially reported as "Accidental discharge of fire arm" to prevent complications involving the officers' families when they collect insurance. Average age of officer suicide is early 30's, usually involving relationship difficulties. They also outnumber civilian suicides by about the same margin. This is a taboo subject in the police culture because they are perceived as "not being in control".
