For my 2004 taxes I owed the IRS 300 some dollars after interest and all that bullshit. So for 2005 my accountant figured out a way that i could get $800 back. So minus what i owed the irs i should get roughly 350-500 back. I called someone about it about a month after i filed my taxes back in March and they said it was still going through everything and everyone was taking my share and that i would get some soon. How come i still havnt got it yet? who do i contact about it?

PS it is my IRS FEDERAL TAXES, not state

I'm not clear if the refund is from restating your 2004 return, or if your 2005 return is enough to pay the 2004 payment and leave more to be refunded. If the second applies, use the "Where's My Refund?" link below. If you amended you 2004 return, amendments are processed differently that 'normal' returns and always take longer. It sounds like they should have had time to resolve the issue by now. Try calling 1-800-TAX-1040. You could also try going to the nearest IRS office and talking to someone in person.

If you filed on time you should have heard something by now. You can go online or call a toll free number, also available on line, IRS.gov, you'll need your SS# and exact amount of your return This will tell you if they have mailed your return to you. You may want to speak to a representative personally. Depending on how late you filed this may be the reason for delay OR you may expect an audit. They may send you a form (I can't remember the name of it off hand) that will ask you basically for all your information all over again, copies of your W2's, etc. I received one of these forms, some kind of worksheet, quite a few months ago (of course this was a good 6 months or so after I filed) and filed on time and still have not heard anything. I am assuming I won't be getting my refund. I found nothing online and was told to wait some more. The IRS is not as speedy with it's returns as they expect us to be. It's a waiting game. If you did something out of the ordinary this may flag them to audit your return and cause a delay but they should send you some kind of letter either way.

Did you file a late return? You need to contact the IRS and make sure they got your return. Every state has a toll free number to make it easier. All you need is your SSN and the amount you're receiving back.
If you have to, call the direct line and talk to someone. You may be able to do this also on the toll free number.
Good luck, Uncle Sam doesn't like to pay anyone.
ps: shame on you for cheating

If you filed a 1040 for 2004
You need to file a Form 1040X
To claim a refund, Form 1040X must be received within 3 years from the date you filed your original return or within 2 years from the date you paid the tax, whichever is later.
