Although I didn't know the exact figures, I did know that Australia had been vastly the most generous country in terms of total donations per capita or as a percentage of their economic size.

The USA did give the most money in total, but as a proportion of population or GDP, the contribution was much smaller than countries like Australia, Norway, the Netherlands or Canada.

1. I doubt your "facts."

2. Reports of government donations generally do not account for private donations, of which the US always leads the way.

3. Why should the US continue to bail out every other country in the world whenever anything goes wrong when they seize every opportunity to stab us in the back at the UN? Fortunately Australia, the UK, and a handful of others haven't done so yet, but the other ~180 countries...

Ah yes, the hypocrisy of the Eastern Hemisphere and the Latin countries on this side of the globe -- they hate Americans but they're only too glad to accept our money, and any time there's a disaster they expect their dear old Uncle Sam to reach into his wallet and pull out a HUGE wad of money...
