Usually the milk comes in a few days before the pups arrive. The teats may not be very swollen with milk though until after the pups arrive and stimulate the teats to produce more milk by the puppies "pummeling" on the teats with their feet as they nurse.

After the pups are born, you'll know if the pups are getting enough milk if they nurse quietly. It's normal for pups to "mewl" and "squeak", but if they're screaming or crying it usually means they're hungry and aren't getting enough milk from their mama. If that turns out to be the case, you may have to bottle feed or tube feed them about every two hours (day and night) until they're several weeks old. Your vet can show you how to do this properly.

She should be making milk if she is ready to have puppies.
What kind of dog is she? Her Temp will drop before she goes into labor. When was she bred? Dogs are pregnant for 9 weeks.
You can buy PET milk replacer and little baby bottles at the feed store or PetSmart. But the momma's milk is best for her puppies, try to get them to nurse. Usually having puppies root around willl cause her milk to start flowing.

a dog stays pregnant for 52-62 days. they will usually produce milk around 2 weeks before having the pups. if shes in labor already take her to the vet because she is probrably in premature labor, it could cause her to die and all the pups as well. she will bleed and discharge when she starts into labor as well. as far as the milk. you can get milk replacers at walmart. if she is in labor and you keep her home, you will need to get you some milk replacer for puppies as well as the bottle (usually comes as a set) and feed them every 1-2 hrs at first. means no sleep for you. you should let them suck when they will if she has them cause this will encourage the milk to come... hope this helps and good luck!!!!

Call your vet. Now. Immediately. Call your vet.

Many females don't drop their milk until after the pups start coming out. If your girl doesn't produce milk at all, you will need to purchase puppy formula and bottle/tube feed the pups every two hours around the clock for the first week, then every three hours around the clock for another week. Then it can be cut back to every four hours! You will also need a rough wash cloth to rub on their privates to stimulate the pups into relieving themselves.

(Isn't having puppies FUN???)

Did I mention you need to call your vet???

how do you know that she is not producing milk? Just because her **** are not sagging down does not mean that she is not produsing milk. My dog just recently had 9 beautiful puppies and before she had them she was almost smooth on the belly just the nipples protruding a bit and then she had the puppies and she is full of milk.

If she is pregnant she will produce milk after she delivers the pups. If you're not sure she is pregnant you should take her to the vet. Her **** will fill with milk during the days after delivery. Supply and demand.

she should produce the milk as the pups are born. If she for some reason does not get some puppy milk they sell it at your local walmart and your local feed stores. Good luck
