Sinful?
Pleasing to God - definitely not.

I don't believe He takes any pleasure in the Christian acknowledgement of a satanic festival. I don't understand why churches have to offer 'alternatives' to 'trick or treat' either.

After the festival, I buy up all our favorite candy on sale. I do not celebrate the holiday and would not buy candy that was decorated for such a purpose. But if the stores want to practically give it away in its regular wrapper, I'll take it.

Basically, it stands on a heart issue. By eating a butterfinger are you enjoying a butterfinger or have you given validity to the festival of witchcraft? The bible said that we need not refrain from eating foods offered to idols. I condemn halloween when asked; keep my family's hearts pure to God, and we eat candy, all without exalting the enemy.

Hope that helps! God Bless you!

PS to PALM BAY above.
You don't celebrate Halloween, but you steal the candy from your kids? Sounds contradictory.

No. The thing that a Christian needs to be mindful of during Halloween is the focus on evil, witchcraft and the occultic stuff. God reserves the word, "Abomination" for a just a few sinful practices. The occult and homosexuality are two of them.

So Christians avoid Halloween celebrations to avoid any associations with the occult.

It is okay to eat candy, even on Oct 31st. In fact, we don't celebrate Halloween, but we still tend to get tons of candy and I was in a sugar coma last night sitting on my front porch! (I steal the candy from my kids :)

According to Christianity it is sinful if you believe/take part in witchcraft. Buying candy is not a problem. I know a very religious Christian who went to a Halloween Party. In Deuteronomy 18:10 it says: "Let no one be found among you who [...] practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft". I hope this helps...

I restled with that one myself. It's an individual call. It's not a Christian holiday by any means but if you don't give the kids candy how is that being a good light to your neighbors and the kids. That's what's more important here.

Technically, Halloween is apagan Holiday but has been considered socially acceptable for many years except for in the most stringent and old fashioned religions. 30 years ago the answer would've been much different, however.

halloween actually comes from an over shadow of the celtic Samhain day-it was named in the 800's as all Hallows (saints) eve - it also was a festival for martyrs too and was begun with festivities and costumes-and its been shared by both sides-which will win lol=Jesus-and hallow eve became halloween

And the bible says even things offered to idols-if prayed over and not offered yourself to them -is ok -acts to eat-in jesus amazing grace with thanks :D
