The Vesper--the martini variation that James Bond invented (he orders it in the book "Casino Royale")
3 ounces gin
1 ounce vodka
½ ounce Lillet blonde
Shake ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a slice of lemon peel.
Lillet is a type of Vermouth that you can still find in many stores. Gordon's is a gin. Where most martinis are made with gin, and vodka martinis are just made with vodka, Bond wildly mixes them both up.

Harjeet, martini is not a liquor, vermouth is what you are talking about. Shaken not stirred is the best way to drink more and have it affect you less, by shaking you break up the ice in the container and it melts faster watering down the drink.

A vodka martini is the name of the drink. There is no such ingredient called "martini". It is a drink made of Vodka and dry vermouth.

If you actually care about the taste then stirred tastes better than shaken. I'd still order it shaken though most of the time, if I ever ordered them.
