How can I defend myself from their harsh opinions?

One- They may think she's using you to get legal status. This is the most likely scenario. Just because someone doesn't like illegal aliens doesn't mean they're racist they just don't like people breaking the rules and cutting inline ahead of those who work their butts off to become legal. I don't like the actions of illegals but my former wife is of Latino descent and we have 2 great kids. Her parents were born here but her grandparents immigrated.

Two-less likely is they just don't like HER as an individual could be religious differences, they may not like the way she treats you, she could have a reputation you're not aware of (very possible if you live in a small town).

The best thing you could do is just flat out ask them why they don't approve. They after all are probably looking out for what they think is best for you but who you love is your decision.

My parents were agast when i brought a girl home whose parents were from India (she was born here) in fact i had heard the comments from others such as "He's not even dating a girl from this country." and so forth. After my parents became accustomed to the fact i had been dating girls from all over the world they got used to it (i used to hang out in techno clubs where the global set hang out).

It's your choice but be wary in all the people you give your heart to.

I not sure if you would have a defense, why would you want to subject your family to something that they obviously feel very passionate about and do not agree with you on? I realize as you must that it is not necessarily your problem and the solution is fairly simple"if it were me but of course it is not, i would let the girl friend go because the family's opinion would mean more to me then the ostracizing that could be received"!You do it you way of course but don't be surprised at the results! Remember blood is thicker than water and girl friends come and go! sorry no pun intended!...good luck

You seriously need to ask this question with all the hoop laa thats going on with illegals. Pull your head out of the sand box and see the light. You are an enabler. Harsh opinions? Please give me a break- you know exactly what is going on - its not an opinion---its a FACT.

They´re probably worried that she is using you to become legal. Just tell them that you´re a big boy, old enough to make your own decisions regarding who you go out with.

They think she is dating you for a green card. She may be, she may not. But if she's pushing for a quick relationship, and already sleeping with you -a thing that is against their culture in their country-I would think long and hard. Sometimes our families can see things that we can't because we are too close. Be glad they don't turn her in, it would be within their rights!

You shouldnt have to defend yourself, stop trying to unless of course either one of you is a minor.

Because you are not thinking straight. If you marry an illegal, you are helping her to stay in the country, which is wrong. Also, it probably seems like you're stooping down to get the girls with no self-esteem.
