what you could take to ease gout in the foot someone told me cherries so apart from pain killers is their anything else

its all to do with counteracting the uric acid in your bloodstream,cherries and strawberries help,also stop drinking beer,cut out seafood,stop eating red meat will also help prevent another attack of gout in the future.As a fellow sufferer i know what your going through and it hurts like hell doesn't it.

Once you get the pain, the small uric acid crystals are already in the joint, causing pain, warmth and redness. Cherry juice, is a good remedy. Medications include anti-inflammatories such as Indocin, Aspirin, Aleve. Others might be colchicine. To prevent the next attack, take a medicine called Allopurinol. It helps you eliminate uric acid thru the kidneys. Avoid meats, alcohol, nuts and any organ meats. They are high in purines, that raises the uric acid levels, leading to a gout attack.

Gout sufferers should be on a special diet, that reduces uric acid levels, which cause gout.

Alcohol, especially beer, should be avoided. Limit alcohol consumption to 1 drink 3 times a week.
Avoid High-Purine foods
Consume a moderate amount of protein. Limit meat, fish and poultry to 4 - 6 oz per day.
Limit fat intake by choosing leaner meats, foods prepared with less oils and lower fat dairy products.

Drink 2 to 3 L of fluid daily. Adequate fluid intake helps dilute urinary uric acid.
Try other low-purine good protein foods such as low fat dairy products, tofu and eggs.
