I am a hairstylist and learned in school that most of what people think is 'dandruff' is actually dry scalp. Dandruff shampoos can makes this worse.
If you use a dandruff shampoo for 2 weeks as directed and it still isn't gone when you STOP using the shampoo then you likely have dry scalp instead.
A scalp treatment is basically moisturizer/conditioner ( a TON of it) rubbed into your scalp for 1/2 hour and then leave it on as long as possible before shampooing. This should fix you up. You may need to do it again in a couple of days but after that just be sure to condition your scalp and exfoliate(scrub)it often.

Or you can just ask for a treatment at the hairstylists. :)

ohhh .. don't attempt this at home if you need to go anywhere that day as you will look like you came directly from the movie GREASE :S

First of all, stop using cheap shampoo. Use a really good shampoo and shampoo daily. Dandruff is caused by the build up, of cheap shampoos, on the scalp.

for the most part it is due to dry skin on your scalp, in some cases it can also be due to psoriasis on your scalp. The person to determine the difference in your case would be a dermatologist. In my case, I use a deep moisture conditioner once a week and a leave in conditioner every time I wash my hair, after using tea tree oil shampoo.

Dry scalp. I would look at the store for things that will help give you some moisture, and there are some leave in treatments too.
