The preacher of the church I use to attend has several children by women in the church the chairman of the deacon board is having an open affair with the choir president and the ministers son is in jail for rape and murder.
Yet, these same people like to tell me I need to attend church every Sunday to hear the word of the Lord for what it does not seem to stop them from doing what they want.
Oh yeah did I mention that the pianist is in a homosexual relationship with the drummer and they are adopting a kid from china.
And then there is the Deaconess President who had an affair with the janitor and has a baby by one of the deacons who was just ordained.
Did I mention that several of the younger women under 16 threatened to file a law suit against the church if the Paster did not take care of his out of wed lock .
That is about it I could go on but I am sure that is enough for now
I could go to another church but from what I am hearing this is the norm for most churches today

I cannot say at this point that I've deliberately chosen for all eternity to never attend church again, but I simply believe that what I do at church can be done anywhere. The opportunity to worship God is everywhere - not just in a church building. Some go to a gym to stay physically fit, some don't. Some go to a church building to stay spiritually fit, some don't. Physical and spiritual fitness can be achieved either way, imo.

Hmmm. I do not go to church because I do not honestly believe it will make me a better person. I am a good person regardles.. I also think that the majority of the "fellowship" are only there for the show. Whoever has the nicest car the nicest clothes, it seems odd to me. and also does anyone really associate with the other members outside of the church other than special functions? I really do not think so. It is the same principle as going to the gym. You go but really do not do anything with the it other than when you are there. Just my thoughts

Because my church is everywhere. As a Wiccan, the world is my church. I just cast a circle and there you are.
When I was a Christian, I used to hate going to church because it seemed pointless. If God is omniprescient, why do I need to have someone else deliver His word to me? Why can't God just tell me what He wants me to know Himself? And why do I have to get all gussied up? After all, God knows what I look like naked, so why the "Sunday best?"
Plus, people in church always seemed so fake. Each week, they would come out in their best clothes and greet one another with pleasant words, all the while condemming them in their private thoughts. Who needs it?
And what does God need with my money? He created the Earth, couldn't He just create whatever he needed? Well, maybe the money goes to maintenance and upkeep on the church and the property, but, if it's God's house, why doesn't He do that?
I don't dislike God or Christianity. I just don't feel that I need a middleman to tell me what my heart knows to be true. Sitting in a building, listening to someone else tell me about what a horrible person I am is a waste of time. I can go to work and get that, but at least at work I get paid for it.

The commandment only says to keep the sabbath day holy. You can do that in the park, at the beach, or looking out your window reading the bible. I don't like the politics of church, I love the feeling of love & Godliness. I am perfectly happy reading the bible myself on Sundays & spending the day of rest w/ my family. And I haven't found the right denomination for myself either.

My husband works weekends, and with a 13-month old son, it's just a hassle to get HIM dressed and fed in the morning! To get him fed, dressed, and then to dress myself is nearly impossible. In addition, the church members were downright mean to us in the past. We had a baby out of wedlock, and we were basically outcast. They won't even compliment us on our son, but they will compliment whoever is holding him.
We're looking at joining a church with Saturday evening services though. We need to seperate ourselves from the church we are at now anyway, so it's a great reason to go to a new one.

Some people choose not to go to church because they disagree with what is being said or because they find that they have other things to do and that church just takes up time. they also may not go cause they find it boring!!
