Well, that's very interesting cuz if u think about it, if it's NOT alive but creates life (plants) than how could something dead create life??? How long could earth possibly live/survive without that glorious light? Is the earth alive? Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Very thought provoking, I'll have to put this question on my watch list! It is an eternal source of power tho (like God). So my answer must be yes than:o]

Well, if you want the purely scientific answer then no, it's not a conscious being like us. It's a giant ball of plasma undergoing thermonuclear reactions at its center. It does have many processes going on inside of it that keep it from collapsing or exploding, but this happens automatically because of the way the laws of physics are set up. The sun will die someday, but not for billions of years. There is no evidence that the sun is "alive" like we are. As the others have stated though, without the sun life on Earth would not continue.

Dead things does not produce anything specially light from fire.. Since the sun is being observed to continously emits fire around itself and continously produce heat to the earth there is a reason to believe it is alive. The moon may have been a dead sattelite a long time ago and without the sun it could not produce light at night as it only depends from the sun to give light in the evening and becomes dark on part covered by the earth's shadow. If the sun we have will die and no other sun shines over the earth, then the earth will also die.

Hindusim is not a religion as most of us believe. Rather it is a collection of many different beliefs. That is why there are so many Gods In Hinduism.
No two hindu communites have the same set of beliefs.
So it is not impossible that few communites believe that Sun is alive. However most of the Indians do not beleive.

The sun has life like everything else that is active in the universe, but it is not alive in the sense that it has independent intelligence. It is controlled by God.
