They let him leave jail early. HE arrived home and was told he had 5 business days to contact his parole officer. When he did, he was told they didt even know he had early release and he had not been assigned a parole officer yet. I really dont understand how lax this system seems to be. I am very confused, I thought they'd take him directly to a rehab. If anyone has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated. He is located in kern county California.

it may seem lax to you (and indeed it is so) but the reason behind it is most likely that the system is so overloaded that he just fell through the cracks. i come across defendants everyday that the record keeping division of the prison system claims the defendants have paroled while the institutional division (and the parole division) claim the def is still in prison......and they actually are still in prison.

What it comes down to, is you will not serve a full sentence in prison or jail if you are on good behavior sounds like this was his first offense so they are slapping him on the hand and letting him go. Each time the sentence will get longer, he remains on parole but is still considered in custody, he screws up he goes back for a few more years, and the good behavior goes out the window.

in most stated the po and the parole board are different agencys it takes a few days somtimes for paperwork to catch up your brother should keep trying to contact the po office so he looks like the good guy thats trying to get his **** together instead of a criminal trying to get away with something good luck to both of you
