If you are making typical baked lasagna, you know with the meat sauce and everything, do you boil the pasta first?
I think that you should boil the pasta al dente, and then align it in the baking pan.
My boyfriends swears that you put them in the oven uncooked. Who's right?

uncooked. I have been baking lasagnas for years without boiling the noodles 1st. You don't need to buy any noodle that says "no boil" on them. I usually line the pan with meat sauce and then the noodles cheeses etc... The liquid from sauce will create a steam ( as long as there is foil over it) that will bubble thru pasta and cook it. If you make very very thick sauce then add a little water in the pan with the sauce just to create the steam effect.

You're both right but it is soooooo much simpler in the cleaning up process to used the uncooked pasta. You can use the oven ready noodles or use regular lasagna noodles just make sure there is extra sauce! This is yummy either way. I can never tell the differnce between lasagna that was boiled on the stove or baked in the dish.

The regular lasagna pasta should be boiled first (al dente). Ronzoni has a lasagna pasta that doesn't require boiling, see below. It works well and is easier to use.

I use uncooked noodles. I have never had a problem with the lasagna tasting gummy or starchy. No one has ever been able to tell the difference. If you do cook the noodle definitely only cook them al dente. Other wise they will be mushy after baking.

You can do it either way, but uncooked is a lot easier and less messier, just make sure you put a bit of extra sauce, thats all! I have been doing it this way for a number of years, if you read the lasagna noodle box it will tell you that it is not required to be pre-cooked.

Both way is OK
If you use uncooked pasta, then your sauce (ragu + bechamel) must be a little bit more fluid and cooking time in the oven increased.
If you use cooked pasta, the sauce must be thicker.
I personally prefer pasta boiled in plenty salted water.
Ciao.

I put them in uncooked and they come out perfectly. You just have to make sure that you have a layer of sauce on the bottom then the first layer of lasagna noodles on top.
