No woman NEEDS a man. It's good to be self-sufficient and confident enough that she doesn't need a man to get by. But for most many, a happy marriage or committed relationship with a man she loves makes life happier.
We all need to love and be loved, but that doesn't necessarily take a boyfriend or a husband.
I'm married and I love my husband more than anything, but i don't NEED him in that my life and livelihood is dependant upon him.

Nope, no arrogant for me. I was raised by a single mother. I have always been independant, and no - I don't need a man.
When I say that, I mean I don't need a man to support me and be in a relationship to survive.
But I do LIKE to be with a man. A real penis is better than a vibrator anyday.

No woman NEEDS a man, and no man NEEDS a woman...a need is something we cannot live without...and the truth of the matter is, all of us can live without being involved with someone romantically...
Do we DESIRE a partner? Many of us do...but you know what? I've been single for the better part of 10 yrs and while I dig being in a relationship, my life isn't empty or lonely (often) or boring or less worthwhile because I am single...having a romantic partner would be great, but I'm not going to allow lack of one to cause my life to be anything less than groovy...
For those people that think they "need" a partner, I feel sad for them...they base their happiness on someone else...they tend to make poor choices of partners because they'll often settle to keep from being alone (which does a disservice to them and their partner)...
So, no...it's not arrogant at all to say we don't "need" a guy or a girl...it's simply the plain truth and a much more appealing attitude, than being needy...

My wife said that to me when we first met but now she says she could not live without me. I found out that she said this not cause she is independent but because the men in the past had really harmed and hurt her emotionally and physically. She then told me she said it because she was only afraid she would be hurt again and it was a wall she had put up to protect herself and gave her a false idea so it made it easy to deal with that she really did need a man.

No, I don't think of it as arrogant. The judgment depends on why they're saying it.
* Some women say it out of defensiveness, 'cause they've been hurt and they're trying to get over it, protect themselves emotionally.
*Others say it because they're offended at being treated like children, like they can't make their own money, take care of themselves, and need a second father.
So yeah, I'd say defensiveness and feeling insulted are big motivators behind the whole "I don't need a man" thing.

I am a single mother, and at times I feel like I need a man for the basic reasons but I am more confident and proud of myself when I have done something out of my "gender". Like wash the car or cut the grass. Yes I could pay someone to do it for me but it is worth more to me to have done it by myself. Which then makes me feel like I need a man for ONLY sex reasons, I can live with out a man (almost).

I AM MARRIED, BUT IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO MY HUSBAND, THERE WOULDN'T BE ANOTHER ONE. DON'T GET ME WRONG NOW, I LOVE MEN, BUT THE ONLY REASON THAT I WOULD NEED ONE WOULD BE FOR SEX.
I CAN CHANGE MY OWN OIL, CHANGE A TIRE, TAKE OUT THE TRASH, MOW THE GRASS -- THINGS THAT MOST WOMEN THINK THEY NEED A MAN FOR. I AM VERY INDEPENDENT. THIS DOESN'T MAKE ME ARROGANT -- IT MAKES ME SELF-SUFFICIENT. I WAS RAISED TO BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF MYSELF AND I CAN.
AND TO BE TOTALLY HONEST, EVEN THOUGH I LOVE MY HUSBAND, I ONLY KEEP HIM AROUND FOR THE SEX. AFTER ALL, I WIND UP DOING EVERYTHING ELSE AROUND THE HOUSE MYSELF ANYWAY.

i think for the most part a woman needs a man. However people out there are different and maybe for some---it is true. I reckon everyone is different and that is what make the world such a wonderful place. If we were all the same it would become boring.
