Whatever you do don't try to wipe it up! A guy spilled a drink in my crotch at a formal event and felt it necessary to get down on his hands and knees and proceed to try and wipe the drink off my dress. I was so embarrassed! That was 15 years ago and I am still teased about it!
Just apologize and give her your address so she can send you the cleaning bill.

Wow... you could apologize, offer to pay for a new dress or for cleaning this one AND spill a larger drink all over yourself. Only then she'll be less angry.

Oh man, that's a tough one....

You must immediately apologize sincerely and then offer to pay either for thorough cleaning or offer to buy her a new dress. She will be less upset then and you will have a clear conscience.

start with "sorry"... then ask what you can do to make it up to her...if she is with a man at the time - offer him a reasonable amount for drycleaning fees....if she is alone... tell her that your are truly sorry that happened and you would love to make it right somehow, then let the conversation start from there....who knows that may have happened for reasons unseen...

tell her how sorry you are and offer to pay for the cleaning of the dress. chances are fate had something to do with you spilling it on HER to begin with.
