Try jump starting it, it could simply be that the battery doesn't have enough cranking amps. If it starts, then your battery may be on it's last leg. Make sure you have enough electrolite fluid in the battery, and see if driving it around allows the battery to charge up.
If the ranger still doesn't turn over when you try jump starting it, the next most likely problem is the starter motor itself. Try hitting the start motor a few times with a wrench to jar it. It may come back to life.
If not take the start motor off and have it tested at your local parts store. Most will test for free for you.
Other possibilities:
If the starter test out, try shifting your car into Neutral. Sometimes the Neutral safety start switch get's worn out and the car will start in Neutral.

Not really. What do you mean by "absolutely nothing"? You turn the key. Do the lights and gages come to life? If not, check your battery connections. If so, what happens when you turn the key to start? Does the starter turn over? If not, and it's an automatic, try again with the selector in neutral this time instead of park. Still nothing? Have someone crawl under and check the wires going to the starter. Are they all connected and tight? If so, try a jump start. Did that do it? If so, you have a bad battery or an alternator not working as it should.
Otherwise, it's time to call your mechanic to send the tow truck.

You don't say what year truck this is. If it is relatively new there is a program in the computer on the truck that will shut down the whole electrical system if the battery gets to a weak condition. I mean everything, gauges, lights and so on. If the battery is over 2 or 3 years old have it checked or just get a new one and see what happens. This also happened to my 1998 F150.

I don't have enough information to give you a good answer, but my old Ford Ranger had a similar problem. For reasons nobody was able to explain to me, one day it simply would no longer start in "P" park. If I put it in "N" neutral, it would start just fine.
I hope this works for you.
