I don't mean to be contrary, but I think the previous answer missed the question, or device being described. There are portable oxygen tanks, where the oxygen is generated back at a chemical plant, and just released. Those need tank refills. I think you want to know about the actual home based oxygen generators (not too different in size from a home electrical generator), that plugs into the wall, and never needs to be refilled, like the one my grandmother uses.
These are often called "concentrators" instead of "generators", because they concentrate the oxygen already in the air.
These generators use air as the source, and enrich the amount of oxygen in the air, releasing the nitrogen and other components back to the environment. The main method for doing this is by compressing the air, and leveraging the different physical properties for components within air (oxygen, nitrogen, etc).
The main components include a compressor (hence why they are inherently noisy), to push the air across membranes or sieves. The speed of absorption through the sieve is different for different gases in the air. The concentrator uses this to increase the concentration of oxygen, before it is delivered to the user.
They are pretty neat devices.

Portable oxygen generators or concentrators suck in room air and remove all the nitrogen and other gases and then delivery the pure oxygen to the person attached. These units have filters that prevent dust, dirt, and debri from entering the unit as well. They can either deliver oxygen in a continuous flow mode or a pulse/on-demand flow. The pulse/on-demand flow option is preferred by most patients because it doubles the battery time available with these types of units. Not everyone can tolerate this mode though so make sure your doctor evaluates you for this mode before attempting to use it. If you need more information, talk to one of the specialist at Oxygen Supply Shop. They have helped several of my patients get the best equipment for their lifestyle and oxygen needs at a really low price.

they are not actually portable oxygen generators they are portable oxygen tanks, which only give out oxygen when the user inhales, as opposed to just dragging around a tank which runs all the time. They are demand driven. The user takes a breath and the tank feels the pull and then issues the dose of oxygen. They are filled off of a home oxygen tank.

Oxygen generators like those used in airplanes create the oxygen through chemical reactions that release oxygen during the reaction.

connect the unfavourable first to the battery post then the effective. in case you attempt and use the chassis and its no longer a sturdy grounding element, in different words painted or grimy the jumpstarter won't artwork. The unfavourable is the floor.
