What is better in a mate....wit, looks, or income?

Everyone has their list of priorities of what is more important. I would say that friendship (and all that it entails - trust, loyalty, communication, enjoying spending time together) is the most important element. A good sense of humor never hurts...life can be difficult at times and if you can make light of things that are not really important, that is great. Income - I would say it is better to look at stability of the person's work habits than how much one makes. Other things to look for would be if the person has good relationships within his family and towards his friends. Sometimes that can be an indicator towards who he is and how committed he will be to you. I would also look at if the person has any trouble with drugs, alcohol or gambling. As far as looks, they can be deceiving. Attraction is important but a person who initially is not attractive, can become attractive if he is a wonderful person and treats you well. I think maintaining good hygiene is important. Also, you must remember that no matter how good looking someone may be, time changes our looks. You don't stay young forever. Better to choose someone based on other qualities that have deeper meaning.

To me, wit is more important. Looks are important in different ways. That person you are attracted to, may not look hot to others....sometimes looks coincides with wit. Because you may be more attracted to someone who is bright and witty, than outer beauty. Income in some ways are important, but if you are only with them for monetary reasons, then what is the point? Because what happens when that person loses their job, and there isn't the income that you were used to coming into the household. Me and my husband started out rough financially, so obviously it wasn't for income. And he is good looking, and is very witty. So, if something happened tht he lost his job, we would know what to do....not like many couples out there who would opt for divorce right off the bat. Good question by the way, it shows how shallow or realistic people are. :)

Wit, because looks and income changes with age, etc. If you have someone that can make you laugh you have got it made no matter what comes up in life.

That all depends how old you are! If you are young and not really interested in a long term commitment, I would say looks! You want to have that physical attraction!

If you are thinking about settling down and getting married, you want it to be to someone who is financially stable and responsible, so I would say income.

If you are older, divorced and looking for a second husband or just someone to enjoy your golden years with, I would say wit! After all, you will both need to have a sense of humor if you are gonna get naked!! lol

It may not be neither...It's all in the personality, I believe most men with money think there all that and more. And men that are really good looking are so stuck on them self and can't leave the mirror for any lenght of time. Trust me I have had both kinds more than once! Go for the personality, you will be much happier in the long run. sunnydays

I am going to have to say looks, followed closely by income...as superficial as it may seem, we all look for someone who is financially secure so we don't have to worry about supporting them. Natural selection says that we also look for qualities in others that we find attractive...i.e.looks.
