How much is pretty vague. A quart of milk, which is a quarter of a gallon equals to 2 pints, 4 cups, or 24 ounces. There for 4 quarts equals a gallon on milk.

A quart is a quarter of a gallon. As a gallon is 8 pints, a quart is two pints. There will be different answers depending which side of the puddle the responses come, in the US a pint is 16 fluid ounces, the UK pint is 20 fluid ounces. A US gallon is smaller than an imperial (UK) gallon. A quart however remains one quarter of a gallon regardless of whether it is a US or imperial one, it's proportionate.
