Yep steam - from one of the little wall-paper removing devices. you fill with water and have a flat applicator at the end of a hose. plug it in, let it warm up and off you go.

You can buy cheap ones for about £25 ($50) or perhaps hire one from a DIY place.

LOADS easier than the old scrape and vinegar-water method.

well you really need to ask yourself this first: Is the wallpaper peeling off in certain spots or does it have a raised effect where paint would show that effect? If the answers are no then you don't have to remove the wallpaper if you just want to change the wall color with paint. Just make sure the paper is secure to the wall and get some medium weight putty/spackle and go over any seems you may see and use a good primer like Zinzer 123 or Behr Primer and then whatever paint you want. If you do however feel the need to remove use a steamer and spray the wall with a good mist of dawn dishwashing liquid and water before hand and you should have no problems. Don't waste your time with the sprays you find in home improvement store they don't work and I don't recommend them to my customers either.

We used a product called DIF...you spray it on and let it set for a few minutes. There is an active ingredient that breaks down the adhesive in the wallpaper glue. Good Luck !!!!

Lisa was right on the DIF but you need to score the surface of the wall paper to be removed first. In order for the DIF to soak into the adhesive on the back of the wall paper you are trying to remove. They sell scoring tools next to the DIF product at your local hardware store. Good Luck!!!

spray on water with a bit of fabric softener added to it.... or amonia and water will do it too. If possible score or cut the paper in several places before spraying.

Steam is the easiest way. Really hot soapy water can help a little, but steaming it off is the best.
