I made up a gift basket for friends that included one of those big movies-on-video guides, a Blockbuster gift card, microwave popcorn, Goobers and Raisinets, charming paper napkins and I can't remember what else. Your home-baked goodies would be great, too. Add a heartfelt card with a handwritten message. Sounds like something I'd like to receive. Another time I made up a basket with tulip and daffodil bulbs, garden gloves, a kneeling pad, a special bulb-digging tool and a Sunset garden book on planting bulbs in the garden. You might package it in one of those lightweight resin flowerpots instead of a basket. Throw in some packets of seeds, maybe. Wrap the whole thing in green cellophane with a ribbon around the top

Theme baskets with homemade goods are always fun to give and to receive. You could do a peanut butter and jelly themed basket with homemade bread, jelly and peanut butter. You could do a pasta basket with homemade sauce, yummy bread, fresh parmesan and gourmet noodles. If they like movies, you could do a theater or rental gift certificate, popcorn kernels and an old style popper. Just pick a theme and run with it. If they don't like whats in the basket, at least they'll know you took the effort to tie everything together.

How about some baguettes or French bread with the baked goods, and a nice bottle of olive oil and a nice bottle of balsamic? Or a jar of brownie mix with the recipe tied around the top with ribbon?

at some of the larger chain bookstores they sell little "kits" like a chocolate lovers kit,a mini bonsai tree kit, mini zen garden etc i would pick up a couple of different "kits" that they might enjoy, also i think that alot of greeting cards are pretty and alot of them fit perfectly into 8x10 picture frames that would be nice and personable. Also if your feeling creative take an appropriate sized jar and decorate it with that fimo polymer clay stuff and fill it with some cute matching writing utensils. have fun!

Sparkling cider and a couple of fluted wine glasses are nice for the non-alcoholic drinkers. Maybe a good love story movie would be enjoyed as well.

How about a big canning jar with a brightly colored lid & nice ribbon. Inside put a certificate that says you have made a donation to the local food bank this year in their behalf.
