I have never heard of that, but I do know that there are numerous UK prisons who have football teams in local leagues. Of course, they play all their matches at home. I never refereed one but I heard that they are good games to referee because the inmates enjoy letting off steam (so you get a good game) but are generally respectful to the referee and their opponents, in the interests of keeping their remission. That, of course, also makes for a good game.

No, the orgianl movie "the longest yard" ( not the newer remake) was shot in Georgia State Prison at Reidsville GA.
And it had no real life event, it was just a movie.
They did use real guards and real inmates in the orginal movie.
ie. the cheer leaders were real men from one specific cell block.
In return for shooting the movie there, the prison got new towers and a new exercise yard for the inmates when they were done shooting the movie.
I used to work there.

No Longest Yard in the US prison system. But you can watch some awesome rodeo at Huntsville in Texas and Angola in Louisiana. They give it their all during these rodeos.
