you didnt mention the models, but i am guessing you are chosing between the canon powershota530 and the casio exz60. if i have guessed correctly, you have chosen two very nice cameras.

CASIO
pros
1.compact camera
2.good sized LCD screen
3.comes in different colors
5.rechargable battery
cons
1.not as quick as the canon
2.not as many manual options

CANON
pros
1.fast camera
2.many manual options
3,great quality prints
cons
1.uses AA batteries
2.smaller LCD screen
3.slightly bulkier camera
4.look not quite as appealing to teenager

hope this helps

For $200 you should be able to get a nice camera. The biggest thing in buying a digital camera is figuring out the important point that you want to buy for, in example, do you want to get the highest MP rating, or do you want to get the best zoom (optical zoom), or ease of use.

Another thing to think about is what type of memory card is used. The most common card type is a SD card. In example, Memory Stick cards are proprietary to Sony products. The reason this is important is that other electronic devices may take this type of card, like a PDA, smart phone, or MP3 player that you own or will want to own very soon. When buying any digital camera, picking up a memory card is very important-- I'd also recommend at least a 512MB card, bigger if you can afford it.

I'd recommend these brand names-- Kodak, Vivitar, Casio, Samsumg, Canon, Sony. I've personally seen and used very good quality cameras from all these brands in that price range.

You didn't mention models, so it's hard to really comment on your choices. Canon is far and away the best way to go in a point and shoot camera, though.

The Canon Powershot A530 is a really super camera for the price. If that's the one you are looking at, buy it.

If you want to score some serious OhMyGod points with a teenager, check out the Canon Powershot SD40. It's around $300+, though.

Don't forget that you NEED to but a memory card to go with the camera. They give you a "starter" card when you buy it, but you will want at least a 512 MB SD memory card. 1 GB is better. My top choice for these cameras is a 1 GB Sandisk Ultra II SD memory card, but that can blow your budget big time.

i think i know something about cameras ... i suggest Canon Ixus 850 ... it should fill the bill i hope ... 8.1 mp ... by the way MP are not a way to decide between a good and a bad cam ... u shoud check the sensor size ... if u wanna get a real good one .. get the Kodak with two lenses ... best in the market with the most amazing price tag ... comes in 5 and 8 mp ...

mega pixels are just for pic size ... does not mean clarity ...

Canon, Canon, Canon

It's all I can say. Canon cameras are fantastic and provide magnificent pictures. I've been using them for about 5 years now. I've since convinced all my friends to make the switch from Kodak and they love it.

Again, I can't stress enough, Canon is the way to go!

Don't buy Casio. You will regret. You will okay with Canon, Kodak or Sony.

Kodak makes a V-series that comes in pink, I highly recommend that.

In fact, I would like one and I might purchase one for myself!
