I think it would be a bad idea. It certainly illicits a strong emotion but not a positive one. A child with a name that brings out negative emotions from people would start life with a negative strike against him and I don't believe that a loving parent would wish to do that. You want the best for your child and a name that will cause him grief is not the way to go.

Do not give your son the name "hateful" he will think you hate him, and he will be embarrassed by it. Why would you even consider this for a name? Go and get a baby nameing book from the library and look through it. Do not name a child this. You must be hateful that you are having a child or something.

Buy a dog don't have a child there is enough cruelty in this world, we don't need to add another helpless child to the crazy and cruel life of being teased because of a name that he had nothing to do with.

This is a name that this child will have to live with for the rest of his life--how would you like to have to go around with a name like that

I actually named my son "Mr. President". That way, everytime he enters the classroom at school everyone will stand and declare "good morning Mr. President! What do you think? Maybe he can carry a small cassette with "Hail to the chief" recorded on it and played at appropriate times!

Try using it yourself for a while-or go out on a playground of children & try yelling it. I think you should reconsider.
I also think the best way of GETTING a hateful child is to name it Hateful!

That's clever. Don't let the humorless get you down. They should be happy that this gives them an excuse to get extra points by leaving you a note. Damn begrudgers.

If you are prepared to deal with constant ridiculing and bullying which will lead to an unactive sociallife and eventually suicide, then yes, it is a FABULOUS name!
