Sad for the women and disgusting for the men.

I watched a discover show on mail order brides and it seemed interesting. Some of them seem sincere and family oriented. While others seem to be in it for personal gain and the marriage is meaningless. I have no idea how a person could tell. If you are looking for a foreign bride you should just go travel to different countries and find one yourself.

I think it's a big gamble and big risk to take. There are some mail-order couples that live happy and loving lives together.

There are also very many mail order brides who are simply looking for a sucker to get them and their family to America...and maybe to get some of his money in a divorce, too.

Why not exhaust the domestic market first before going for a foreign make?

There is a lot of advertising for "mail order brides" .
Before you buy, know your rights. Let's face it, statistics show that more than half of all marriages end in divorce. For most of us, a wife is the biggest investment of our lives. You want to make sure you can send her back! You want to make sure she's merchantable and fit for the ordinary purpose(s) for which she's used. You want to make sure the goods conform to your order.
Here's the law on "goods":
"Merchantable" goods, according to the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), Section 2- 314, must be (a) passable in quality under the description in the contract; (b) if and what are wives if not must be of fair average quality, at least as described in your contract; (c) be fit for the ordinary purposes for which wives are used; (d) (quoting now) "run, within the variations permitted by the [contract], of even kind"; (e) are adequately contained, packaged, and labeled as the contract requires; and (f) conform to the promises or affirmations of fact made on the container or label, if any.
Under the UCC, the merchant is charged with special knowledge. He is supposed to know what to look for. Therefore, when a "merchant" sells one of his stable to another "merchant," it's caveat emptor.
A person making an isolated sale of goods is not a "merchant" within the meaning of the Code. Unless defects in the goods are disclosed, or readily apparent, there is an implied warranty.
Remember that. And get any specific promises in writing.

My thoughts would be; (if I too were a desperate fat or ugly bald guy with a good job and a complete and total inability to get a woman any other way that regardless of all my shortcomings I could still push her around and be the king of my castle.)

To wonder where the heck this broad was before I got to her that she is actually a willing participant in the human slave trade through the legalities of marrying a guy like they are to avoid what ever the heck would and could be considered a worse fate than preferred subservience and organized prostitution.

That's what Id think...

hmmmm "AIDS and a life as a prostitute for the poor perverts here in my own country... or marrying a pathetic American, living the American dream, that thinks he will continue to push me around once I blow him and talk him out of a pre nup..." Hmmm

Decisions decisions... What would YOU do considering?

These woman are neither innocent or stupid and they will not ever love you... All they want is a way out!

You can start by doing some research. First you have to make contact. Most of the online introduction services match people worldwide. Some are fee-based, like match.com, while some are free, like friendster.com. Then if you decide you are interested in a woman, and possibly marriage, you must visit her home country and meet her in person. That is required by U.S. immigration before they issue a fiance visa.

You have a lot of homework to do if you are serious about this.

The idea makes me a bit nervous. It's hard to tell whether a relationship will work when communicating with someone miles away whom you really don't know well. Not that I am a good one to talk -- I and my wife of 8 years agreed to hook up after we had been together for two days.

I am married to a girl from Vietnam; I was married to 2 American women, she is so superior to those two that had I known I would have gotten a mail order bride in the first place.

I think it's disgusting. My cousin went that route and let me tell you, it did not work out. They had absolutely nothing in common, plus she could barely speak English. He was made to believe she was a CPA in the Philippines before he married her, well come to find out it was a lie, and when she got over here to the US, she went to work at a motel, cleaning rooms. Everything was a huge lie, and they are now divorced.

My thoughts are not positive. I had a freind who got one from Russia. she was beautiful, sexy, and exotic. After she got her citizenship she packed up the house, emptied the bank account, Motgaged the house, sold his car and filed for divorce. She was also screwing everybody.
