I need to put a dollar sign only on the first value of each column. How do I do this without messing up the formulas? Everything I have tried only gives me dollar signs on every value.

Format the ones you want to have dollar signs as Currency. Format the rest as Numbers.

click on the cell(s) you want to dollar sign on.
Then select Format->cells... (or press CTRL 1)
That will bring up a window that says "Format Cells"
Make sure the number tab is selected, the select "Currency" from the list. Make sure in the "symbol" box it says "$" and select any other options you wish (decimal places and how to display negative numbers)
If that format isn't quite what you want. You can also select. Custom and make your own format. If there is a value in the cell you have selected you will be able to preview formatting in the menu.

Select the columns then click on Format Menu and select Cells... On the number tab of the Format cells dialog box, Select currency on the category box. Then click OK.

You can format the cells that you want the dollar sign as currency or create your own custom format.

Just go to that cell and click on dollar sign.

u just highlight the rows and right click, and choose properties and set the row has currency or value. and it will autoadd the $ sign.

you can't it won't regonize the shift character comands also the 0s after the tens will disapear as well sucks
