I will graduate college in about 10 months and am planning on moving to canada after. I will have a degree in Legal Administration. For a person moving to Canada for the first time, what part would you sugest? I know people in Toronto and I would move there but I know it's really expensive. I plan to become a legal secretary and I dont know if I could afford to live there right away.

What other parts of Canada are good?

Calgary is booming thanks to the high oil price - but it's cold.

Ottawa is perhaps your best choice: it's a bilingual city , very clean, and filled with activities...

Nearby are Gatineau and Hull, officially part of Quebec (the province) but in walking distance of Ottawa. Hull would be the better choice between the two.

London Ontario is also a very nice place to live, and although cheaper than Toronto, it still is supposed to be a bit expenssive... But the salaries they offer over there are verr competitive.

DON'T move to Montreal in Quebec! Whatever people say, it probably isn't true! Montreal now is expensive, overcrowded, with a massive housing problem; apartments are super expensive and awfully "kept". Neighbours are usually disrespectful self-centered job-less idiots who will prevent you from getting a decent night's sleep! Plus there's not alot of work in Montreal, unless you open a convenience store with your family living in the back room!

Apparently, Alberta is the best province to live in now, with too much work for the amount of people over there... However, they also have a housing shortage problem, so you'd probably have to get your house built from scratch over there, a very expensive project indeed!

Hope this has helped you out a bit?

Cheers!

We just moved here from the states (my husband is Canadian). Because of his citizenship, it was easy for the family to move up here.

Most of Canada is expensive!!! Alberta, while being one of the more expensive provinces, is INUNDATED with work!!!!! In all fields. We moved here from Colorado and it pretty much feels like home because of the Rocky Mountains. Calgary has a feel of Denver too.

While I have never lived in Canada before, I do like it. Due to a much, MUCH smaller population compared to the states, we feel is is a better place to live!

If you need help with immigration, call Canadian Immigration Solutions. We worked with their Calgary office. 403-246-2692.

As a word of advice. It would probably help moving to an area that you know someone in, at least in the beginning.

Good luck!

I'd stay away from Toronto and British Columbia if your worried about finances. I have friend in Toronto and all throughout BC and they are always complaining and stressing about money because its to damn expensive. BC has the highest rate of working poor in all of Canada. Ottawa is great place and varies in rent cost.
