I need Bible passages on the importance of forgiving others and asking for forgiveness to those you've wronged. My friend's BF is being a total jerk (he was the one who wronged her) and is not behaving like a "good Catholic boy" so I need some passages to throw in his face. ( I am not Christian which is why I am asking for help). Thanks in advance.

He doesn't seem to understand reason, so we are trying to put it in different terms so that maybe he will understand the point she is trying to get across to him.

I do understand what they mean thank you very much. You aren't getting the point. He is being very mean and nasty and doesn't seem to get any sort of explanation and we/she is hoping that putting it into terms in a Biblical sense will get the point across.

1 john 1:9 Read it in the amplified bible.
But realize 1 john 1:9 is totally dependent on Matthew 6:12, 14, 15 which are the words of Jesus speaking. Read it in the Amplified Bible to get its full meaning from the original greek.
In a nutshell, "If we forgive others, letting go of all ill feelings, and resentments, then God will forgive us. If we do not forgive others, letting go of all ill feelings, and resentments toward that person, God will forgive us."
Forgiveness is a choice !!
If the situation comes up again in your mind, or that person, and you begin having ill feelings and resentments again, you must "Truly" choose to forgive.
Forgiving others, including oneself sets one free. A heavy weight is lifted of your chest.
All guilt, shame, and condemnation is gone, and relationships are restored. And trust is restored as well !!
This is the Ministry of Reconciliation the Apostle Paul talked about.
It takes a real man, or a real woman to swallow there pride and say I'm sorry, please forgive me (even when they may be right).
If this persons believes the bible, share these verses w/him and the info. I gave you here, to him kindly, soft spoken, and you should get positive results. If there are no positive results, he does not really care about the relationship he is in. Love always swallows its pride(if there is any pride within the person) because Love Is Very Patient and Kind, AND LOVE IS NOT SELFISH. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) Read these passages as well to him kindly and soft spoken.
Hope this helps a little.

First of all you need to be the one to forgive, this is how it works, you cannot and should not be judging him.
1 Corinthians 13: 1-10, James 1:19-20, John 3:16,
Good luck and God bless you. and you can not throw bible verses into the face of anyone if you do not even understand what they mean. Good luck to you.

Leo Tolstoy's "A Spark Neglected Burns the House" is an amazing and thoroughly moving short story regarding forgiveness (including on the part of those who want to throw things in others' faces). It begins by quoting Matthew 18:21-35. The text may be found at http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/etcbin/toccer-new2?id=TolTale.sgm&images=images/modeng&data=/texts/english/modeng/parsed&tag=public&part=5&division=div2

There are different sacramental church homes. Anglicans, Lutherans, and the Orthodox for effective. The numbers of sacraments can selection. Even Catholics have had differing numbers by way of the years (and previously every physique freaks out, I leaned that at a Catholic seminary!). for occasion, Anglicans know two - Baptism, and Eucharist, using fact those instituted by capacity of Jesus. basically, he pronounced "try this." The others are considered as minor sacraments, so, no longer with extremely the comparable status. I even have forgotten what share the Orthodox, and jap Catholics have. In my Sacraments classification, we've been 50:50, Catholics, and Anglicans, so, I on no account did hear. A sacrament is a few thing particular - "an outward and visual sign of an inward an invisible grace." Denominations who word the sacraments think of that some thing genuine happens in them, e.g., at Eucharist, you receive the Holy Spirit straight away. Non-sacramental church homes, which consists of a lot (no longer all) of the Protestant ones think of those issues are symbolic in basic terms. So, they placed much less emphasis on them. yet, for the sacramental denominations, those issues are needed, using grace of God working bodily in them.

Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
This isn't to be used to "throw in his face" --- forgiveness isn't about making yourself look good it's about reflecting the love of Jesus.

You can't throw anything in his face and expect him to receive it. It won't work - he'll just get angry. That's not what you should be using Bible verses for, anyway - although plenty do.
