You're only 18--so take advice from an old lady. Don't worry about what to cook--order a pizza. If a guy figures out that you're a good cook, you're less likely to be going to the restaurants that you like. He'd compliment you plenty if you prepared a delicious meal....but there are other ways to a man's heart. There is no rule that saids a woman must be a good cook...and besides why do you want to out do him? Just continue to compliment him on his fine cooking skills....don't even learn how to cook. You're young and will enjoy going out...don't set yourself up to stick around the house (yours or his) instead of going out and doing fun things. My hubby won my heart with his great cooking skills...so I never learned how myself. And things worked out great. Good Luck.

Try my favorite which is really easy. Chicken cordon bleu.
Get skinless boneless chicken breasts, wrap each one seperately in plastic wrap. Now the fun part... pound them with the bottom of a small frying pan until they are about a 1/4 inch thick. Now you just made a cutlet. Now take some whole grain mustard (the kind with the mustard seeds in it) or some dijon mustard and spead it lightly on each cutlet. After that put on a few slices of thinly sliced ham and then a slice of swiss or even better, fontina cheese. Now roll those up as tight as you can get it. Dip the chicken roll up in an egg bath (1 egg and a little milk or cream lightly beaten) then cover in bread crumbs. Put them in a baking dish and use a pad of butter to top each roll. Then put in the oven at 375 for about 40-55 minutes depending on how big the chicken is. You'll know when it's done when the coating is crunchy and the chicken juice is clear.
Serve this up with some mashed potatoes and a vegetable of you choice and you have a delicious easy meal.
I cooked this for my boyfriend the first time I cooked for him and he's still around and begs me to cook it again for him all the time.
Good luck and if you need any more help, email me megha717@hotmail.com. I love to cook and have tons of good easy recipes!

I have been with my man for nearly 3 years now and let me tell you, the old saying is true !
"the way to a man's heart is through his stomach"
i was bad at cooking to begin with, but i really put my heart in it, and now i enjoy cooking - it relaxes me and i really
www.tarladalal.com has some great indian recipes - click on free recipes. this woman also does a lot of cookbooks - pretty cheap too so get them, and you will learn a lot.
for your current dinner, if you are gonna cook something, then keep it simple, make some pasta and be innovative with your sauce. sainsburys do good ready made sausces if you are not too sure. remember presentation matters, so decorate your salad, garnish your pasta with herbs, and switch those lights off - candle lit is best !
good luck !! and i hope you become a great cook in time ! :)

Be honest with him and tell him you are not a great cook but you tried before you like him. There are several things that are simple to cook if you will just read the directions. You could try cooking something like meatloaf, potatoes, and some vegetables (from a can). Or fix him some baked chicken and vegetables. I know my boyfriend loves mac and cheese so I fix him that from time to time when I cook for him. It's simple but it is what he likes. Its not about what you cook... as much as you fix something him enjoys.

He should just be happy that you're making the effort.
If you have cooked before, then cook a dish you know you're good at or you know he likes. If you don't know how to cook or what he likes to eat, then just try something simple for the 1st time, like spaghetti or something.
The biggest thing is to not make a big deal out of it or get insulted if he doesn't like it. Just enjoy each other's company.

I have got the PERFECT thing for you.
A greek dish called kleftico, which is sooo easy, tastes fantastic and he'll think your a culinary god.
Best thing is it cooks over a long time at a low temperature so before he turns up you'll have loads of time to get ready etc without being tied to the stove.
Take it out of the oven and serve, it's awesome and a small child can make it.

Why don't you try a casserole-chop up some veg(carrots, onions and potatoes will do)add some meat (beef or chicken)put in a casserole pot with casserole mix and leave in the oven for about an hour whilst you spend some quality time with your boyfriend.
If you're worried about burning things you could make him a chicken caesar salad-pan fry some sliced chicken(try not burn it),add to salad, cherry tomatoes and pour over caesar salad dressing and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
Best of luck.

Make him something with pasta. You can boil the water, add the pasta and cook it for 7-9 minutes. Buy some Ragu spaghetti sauce and add seasonings like garlic, oregano, basil, thyme, and a little sugar. You can buy meatballs that are already made and put them in the microwave and then add them to the sauce you are warming.
