if I've just had my hands in water with tide with bleach or been outside cleaning the car my cat does a lot of sniffing and then rubs sweetly and then clenchen on me with a hard bone bite. I can't seem to break her of it; and I don't like the hard bites. I would think if a cat is liking something and is being cute it would rub, purr and lick, not bite. I'm thinking when your cat first bites then stares he is trying to tell you something. Take a look at the cat's eyes and see if the pupil is large or small. If large it's angry about something, if the pupil (black part) is small then the cat is playing. Don't just think he's cute, figure out what he's trying to tell you.
