Assuming you are on Windows Xp.
Click "controll Panel" then click on "Internet and net work connections" then click on "network connections"
That will list your internet connections. DISSCONNECT your internet.

2) select "connect to internet" click "next"
3) select "setup my connection manually" click next.
3) select your modem type. click next.
okay here goes,........ THERE ARE 3 MODEM TYPES
SELECT ONE OF THE three options
NOTE: if you have a router/modem from your internet service provider, select the second or third option!
if you know the password and username select the second one.
if your ISP said its a LAN that is always online, select third.
----SETUP----
if you selected the second option,... click next,
on next page, type a name for your connection, click next again
type username and password, click next, DONE!!!!
----------
if you selected the third option, the moment you click next, it finishes your setup! all you have to do now is,
1) turn modem on.
2) connect USB or Ethernet cable (ONLY ONE! not both)
3) check power supply.
4) plug in the landline telephone wire.
wait for the ADSL linklight to light up. when it is up. start browsing.
----------
if you selected the second option, turn modem on, connect cables and wait for the modem lights to turn up. (either ethernet or usb will be on, BOTH souldnot be on)
goto your desktop, you will see a icon WITH THE NAME YOU GAVE, click it, click connect.
if none of this works ask your provider to program the router again or do the setup for you.

You shouldn't need to uninstall anything. Your new provider should have asked you to get a MAC code from your current provider. This code allows them to take over the supply of your internet connection without requiring you to do anything. If all goes well, you shouldn't even experience any downtime. One the transfer is complete, you should receive the new settings required by your computer and router/modem.
